Install “Novelution Contract AI” in Word

The add-in reviews a contract against your negotiation playbook and applies AI-suggested redlines as tracked changes. Works in Word on the web and desktop Word for Mac — both start with the same download.

⬇ Download add-in manifest

Option A — Word on the web (easiest)

  1. Open Word on the web (or word.office.com) and open any document — e.g. the sample contract from the Documents library.
  2. On the Home ribbon choose Add-ins → More Add-ins.
  3. Go to the MY ADD-INS tab and click Upload My Add-in.
  4. Choose the downloaded novelution-contract-ai.xml and click Upload.
  5. The Contract AI pane opens. Enter the access code when asked, pick a playbook, and click Review contract.

Option B — Desktop Word for Mac

  1. Quit Word fully (⌘Q — not just closing the window).
  2. Open Finder, choose the menu Go → Go to Folder…, paste this and press Return:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Word/Data/Documents
  3. Look for a folder named wef. If it isn't there, make it: File → New Folder, name it exactly wef.
  4. Drag the downloaded novelution-contract-ai.xml from your Downloads into the wef folder.
  5. Reopen Word and open any document.
  6. On the Home ribbon click Add-ins and select Novelution Contract AI (Cloud) (under Developer Add-ins). After the first launch the Contract AI button also appears on the ribbon.
  7. Enter the access code in the pane, pick a playbook, and click Review contract.

Comfortable in Terminal? Steps 2–4 are one command:
mkdir -p ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Word/Data/Documents/wef && cp ~/Downloads/novelution-contract-ai.xml ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Word/Data/Documents/wef/

Option C — Desktop Word for Windows

Windows sideloads from a trusted catalog — a shared folder holding the manifest (one-time setup).

  1. Save the downloaded novelution-contract-ai.xml into a new folder, e.g. C:\word-addins.
  2. Share that folder with yourself: right-click it → Properties → Sharing → Share… → add your own user → Share, and note the network path it shows (like \\YOUR-PC\word-addins).
  3. In Word: File → Options → Trust Center → Trust Center Settings… → Trusted Add-in Catalogs.
  4. Paste the network path into Catalog Url, click Add catalog, tick Show in Menu, click OK, and restart Word.
  5. Open any document → Home (or Insert) ribbon → Add-ins → More Add-ins → SHARED FOLDER tab → select Novelution Contract AI (Cloud).
  6. Enter the access code in the pane, pick a playbook, and click Review contract.

If a desktop menu doesn't show the add-in (some Word builds have sideload bugs), use Option A (Word on the web) — it works everywhere, Mac and PC. The pane is served from https://contracts.poc.novelution.com — no other local setup is needed, and installing the manifest only affects your own Word. For an org-wide rollout without any of this, IT can upload the same manifest once via Microsoft 365 admin center → Integrated apps (central deployment).
